My Basket Of Mushy Romantic Stuff

  1. Pretty Woman- simple, sweet & entertaining movie of the feel good kind of genre with some great songs as "it must have been love", " lady in red" being my favourite & others including the very popular title track.
  2. Brokeback Mountain- People say Titanic was one hell of a romantic movie which made them cry their eyes dry, but I never felt that there but in Brokeback Mountain. Such innocence & passion was depicted in  the movie between the lead pair which I have failed 2 c with the same intensity between the conventional, a man & woman. This movie really made me believe that love is beyond sex, society, everything- absolutely everything. One of the best performances of Jake G. As 4 Heath Ledger, he is a natural charmer in all frames & death wasn't necessary to prove it.
  3. The LakeHoue- an interesting love story with a supernatural twist. Just loved Keeanu's smiles in this movie & I loved the song "this never happened to me before" by Paul Mc Carteny.
  4. The Holiday- Starring Kate Winselet, Cameron Diaz & Jude Law among others, this is another feel goodkinda stuff. The women look pretty & full of energy while Jude looks so sensitive & the ideal groom, esp. in scenes where he is bespectacled & fathers 2 kids.
  5. Twilight- Based on the book by the same name, the movie is well made with a hot RobPatterson and a Bella who so much resembles Emma Watson in some scenes. The locales r good & so is the musical, especially the piano  stuff & the song "leave out all the rest". Watch out for the baseball game in the movie, its fun.
  6. A Walk In The Clouds - The movie is a light hearted one with Keeanu Reeves in the lead, & man once more he did get me bowled over with his occasional bursts of sweet smiles. The romance is touched up with a juicy depiction of vineyards & the wine making season.
  7. When Harry Met Sally- One of the most popular romantic story of all times, Bill Crystal & Meg Rayn touch so many of the untold issues & emotions that seep between a man & woman; & well yeah, how could one forget the comical twists in the film & the song "I say tomatoes...."
  8. Serendipity- My all time favourite movie which is a sweet, a little stupid but simple romantic movie which leaves u feeling all nice & crisp within. It has some good tracks & boy! I so much did like Cussack's friend in this movie & the suicide note that he pens for cusack after his marriage breaks.
  9. Noting Hill- Julia Robert- Hugh Grant starer movie caught my attention for its gr8 tracks, cinema photography, Julia's acting skills(as always) & the mushy romance. Yet another FGM.
  10. My Best Friend's Wedding- This piece of comedy has Julia Roberts(my favourite!!) in her most berserk form entertaining u all the way chasing her boyfriend who is on his way 2 get married to Cameron Diaz, who doesn't have much to do apart from wailing & looking like a doll.

My Idea Of A Good Vacation

Well, i must say that it is really interesting to explore & know more about oneself, some facts even take u by surprise. One such aspect of myself which I found out during the 2 week long holiday between March 29th- April 13th 2009 is that I am very comfortable with myself 2 the extent that I can enjoyed the entire holiday by myself. I had a lot of apprehensions about myself, but with the passing days I seem 2 becoming more & more of a loner.
Given my present state of new found interests, my idea of a perfect vacation is 2 get up round 9:30, finish ur early morning chores at a snail's pace by 11 am. Then read the news with music playing at full sound, so turn on either the radio/laptop/T.V. Get ur ass up & cook Maggi 4 meals, u can alternate it with some crazy dish of egg or Pasta. The term crazy has been used since I luv cooking egg in weird ways(but trust me, they turn out good 2 eat) ; i have cooked them in coconut oil, mustard oil, sunflower oil, in cheese, have seasoned it with Domino's seasoning, chili flakes, ginger-garlic paste, have added chopped vegetables, added peanuts & many more......its fun!! something similar, but not 2 that extent has been experimented with Pasta too. Thus the entire vacation is spent in watching movies, sitcoms, surfing, reading, eating JUNK & cooking a bit(with whatever liberty u have in a hostel). I enjoy so much being with myself that am still surprised!! all I can say is that there r different phases of life & this is one such odd one.

English Movies With A Punch

  1. Devil's Advocate- This 1997 release of Keeanu has him playing the role of a criminal lawyer who end up working for the Satan. Well, i didn't really believe in the concept, but the movie has beautiful & practically applicable moral  mouthed by Al Pacino. Well, 4 the guyz, the movie has a sweet Charlize & some hot women going with perfect boobs.
  2. Cars- An animation running high on feelings which even human beings can't compete with. It has some gr8 songs as "it our town", "I never had a dream come true till the time that i met u" & others. Every character leaves a mark on u, the savvy Lightening Mc Queen, The stubborn old Doc, Mc Queen's buck teethed friend.
  3. Good Fellas- This Martin Scorsese movie has Robert De Niro giving a gr8 performance as he stands at the helm of an under-world gang. The movie definitely ends as a proof of how futile is the dark world despite the short bouts of success & immense flow of money.
  4. The Departed- A gr8 movie 4m the house of Martin Scorsese again with Mark Wahlberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson showcasing their acting talents so well..........mmm, its again got a lot of guns going bang! bang! & movie winds with a lot of deaths. Its not all blood shed but, its got a good story & gud dialogues.
  5. Match Point- Hmmmm......... J. Rhyes Meyers, Matthew Goode, 2 handsommm guyz & a smoky Scarlet Johannson, the movie gotta be a treat for the eye. Well, apart from the visual treat, I just loved the screenplay, the direction & the background score, what a swell!
  6. The Talented Mr Ripley- The Ripley Series is a treat to read, I even enjoyed the movie Ripley Under Ground despite the average stuff the movie was made of. But then this one is AWESOME. My God, such gr8 acting by Matt Damon, each expression he showcases, the dismay, the apprehensions, the guilt, the feeling of achievement & one of utter loss.......its a gr8 piece of work. The direction of the film is also very crisp & every character has been aptly brought to life.
  7. 1408- I liked this make of the Stephen King novel more than Secret Window(Johnny Depp has shined so well in that movie, alas, didn't like the direction). I think its one of Cusak's best performances I have seen & I just loved to get those scary jolts, it worked better(much!) than the wretched Grudge.

BJP's Ambush Marketing Strategy

I came across a very interesting explanation of ambush marketing somewhere- imagine you throwing this party at home for the neighbours as a token of appreciation (believe me in today's world also its possible!!), but then suddenly your sweet(??) roomie drops in and pompously shares with you the credits for the party by doing nothing specifically offensive or unethical........hurts right? Well that's exactly what AMBUSH MARKETING is all about.
Now take a look at the current political scenario, we have Congress having purchased the Oscar winning song "Jai Ho" from T- Series for a whopping.....$200,000. No sooner had their campaign hit the small screen, we had BJP releasing its parody- an apparent attempt to the pull the plug on Congress Campaign with the "Bhay Ho Phir Bhi Jai Ho". So despite the package spend by the ruling party to purchase the song and employ Precept Pictures to design the campaign, the benefits don't seem much with the Campaign diluted with the opposition having ambushed their campaign with a pair of poor kids singing a catchy parody. Even if you aren't much into politics you cant help a laugh escape your mouth at this apparent political comedy.
